Blackbird Ordinary: Boom Bap Edition

Local Miamians and visitors across the globe have different reasons on why they like Miami. Miami for me is my backyard vacation. You could never run out of things to do here and if you decide to do nothing while you're here or live here; you're truly missing out on the amazing, crazy and spontaneous things that South Florida has to offer. I make my way down to Downtown Miami to this little spot which has a neon sign of a bird hanging from a black building. Looking at this spot from the outside kind of reminds of a sketchy building were bad ass motorcycles men go to.
Well, don't let that fool you because as the door opens you have walked into BLACKBIRD ORDINARY.

Blackbird: An old world bird with black plumage and orange bill; particularly remarkable for its melodious mating song.
Ordinary: Usual or customary. a colonial tavern; also known as a public house or pub. An establishment for the entertainment of a local community with gaming, drinking, and conversation.

I have arrived into a good vibe, energy, and self accepting place. Where you can shake your ass and not give a damn about who is watching because everyone else is doing the same. This place can't get boring. Every night there is something different happening. From In the biz Mondays, ladies night on Tuesdays, featuring some of the best dj's in Miami throughout the week, and to mention one of the best parties on the last Thursday of every month called Boom Bap which is hosted by one of my good friends Soarse Spoken and music by DJ YNOT to a variety of other dj's. I've been to this spot many times but have never been here on Boom Bap night and I have to say I enjoyed it. If you like older hip hop mixed with trap this will be your favorite night to go. Not only does this place have inside bar but it also has a backyard to it. Here is where you can find another bar, a stage, some food at the bird hole (for the drunken hunger and munchers), and a edible wall. An edible wall? Yes exactly what I said. Blackbird is known for their incredible music but the handcrafted cocktails..... which is made with their homegrown organic herbs and fruits. Good stuff. I'm an organic frenzy if you didn't know. The edible wall is a unique idea. It's something you don't see at an average bar or lounge. Blackbird Ordinary sits in my top 10 spots in South Floida.

Cheese Culture: The Whey of Life

My journey begins at the Cheese Culture located in Las Olas. This place has a wide selection of amazing wine which is picked and changed frequently by the owner. Not only is the wine great but the cheese is phenomenal. No need to worry if this is your first wine and cheese pairing experience because their staff is fully knowledgeable of what wine is paired well with cheese. I can truly say not only do I go for the wine but the employees are beyond amazing. They make you feel at home and they provide a intimate ambiance. If you're shy or coming with people, you will always feel welcomed here. "Come as you are" is what they say. On to the good things:

1. HAPPY HOUR! Monday-Friday from 4-7pm. Half off glass of wine.

2. Wine and Cheese pairing classes. Reserve a spot online @ cheese-culture.com

3. A glass of wine keeps the wrinkles away.

     Yours Truly,
            Madum

Welcome

Welcome everyone to my blog. South Florida has grown into an empire. Our food, our nightclubs, our people have turned this city into a place that can't be found nowhere else. I will be dedicating myself to hitting up the hot spots to the unknown spots in South Florida. Regardless if you're a visitor or a local resident, follow me into what I think makes South Florida the number one hot spot.
                                                                   Truly,
                                                                        Madum
